yesterday, mac & i ventured to the "big city" for a day of food & fabric. our plan...to design our very own one-of-a-kind 21st birthday dresses. this could prove interesting considering neither of us are expert seamtresses. all the same, we found ourselves in love with the city & spontaneous adventure.

thursday obsession

procrastination is an evil thing. instead of being productive & studying for my international communications midterm, i decided to peruse the wonderful world of online shopping. what did i find you ask? oh just the most gorgeous gold jewlery from melinda maria. i don't need cake & ice cream for my big birthday bash {in june!} give me jewlery.

today is just one of those lucky days that makes me smile. the sun is out, the temperature's up & i'm wearing a tank top in an attempt to bronze my shoulders in 54 degree weather. family came in town this weekend & good food {sesame-crusted tuna steaks to be specific} was complimented by quality time {just tossing around some clay pots}. a reminder of why any disfunctional family can remain awesome. my parents are granting me the dream of my life {details to come soon}, re-catapulting some things i thought were out of reach. they really are too good to be true.

singles awareness

i'm not one to get much into the hallmark holiday bestowed on us the 14th of february. maybe this stems from never actually having a successful (or productive) valentine's day or that i find oversized bears & heart-shaped boxed with ruffles & lace awfully tacky. but, in the spirit of love (and care packages filled with festive goodies from my doting aunts) i decided to make my girlfriends little reminders of why we stick together; if you're wondering, it's because we like each other alot. for anyone who knows me, this means arts, crafts, cupcakes & love (tequila doesn't hurt either).

paris, je t'aime

it's no secret that i am in love with french culture.

from the food to the people to the countless cherry trees, sunflowers & red poppies, i don't enjoy our long-distance relationship.

spending a summer there when i was younger left me utterly fixated on all things parisian.

the fashion didn't hurt either.

so naturally when this commerical came on last night, i got a little nostalgic.

pretty daze

yesterday was lovely. the sun was out & my vitamin D count was up. one month until i'm sitting dock-side & sipping a salted margarita. no umbrellas allowed.

"my diet starts tomorrow"

'tis the season of 21st birthdays, cake overload & downtown debauchery. yesterday was my great friend & roommate helen's big day so of course i honored it with barefoot contessa's decadent coconut cake made from scratch. 5 sticks of butter later, magic was born in an apartment oven. i bet it doesn't last the week.
